The three praise and worship teams on the album are “Creation” (a soulful trio), “Sounds of the Spirit” (an all female ensemble with rich harmonies) and “Sweet Fellowship” (a powerhouse male quartet). Most of the pieces feature traditional barbershop type harmonies. As a ministry tool each vocalist gets a good amount of solo time to deliver his/her message.

Musically the project is very upbeat and deeply rooted in the Southern Gospel tradition. If you like the Gaithers, chances are you’ll enjoy this album. This album was recorded at Road Records recording studio.

Producer’s Note: When we first started this project I don’t think any of us realized how difficult it would be. It has been a challenge for all of us and has made us better musicians and people. After nearly seven months, we know that our labor is not in vain. I offer my most heartfelt thanks to the team and to Temple Baptist Church for your support. Hey team, are you ready for the next one!!?? - Scott Chase (aka “Slave Driver”)

From the Pastor: This project has been a dream of ours for some time now. Not because we want any prestige or accolades. This project is not about any of us. It is however, all about how awesome our God truly is. It is our prayer that each one of these songs will help you praise the Lord throughout the week. The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people and that our praises are sweet incense to Him. - Pastor Michael A. Trusch

Albert Miranda - Christian Blues Band

Albert Miranda
Formerly Groove DeVille

albert_miranda_band3.jpg

Albert Miranda is driven by two main elements: His love for Texas style blues guitar playing and his personal Christian convictions. His sound is similiar to Stevie Ray Vaughan, sometimes set to more hip hop beats.

Albert first recorded at Road Records in 1998 and was featured on New Faces Volume Three with his blues/rock piece “Your Own Sin”, the story of a mother that turns her back on her son because of his resemblance to the long gone father.

Their newest recording project is currently under production as of early 2002. Albert’s new album is full of heart felt conviction, great swing and hip hop grooves and of course; his great Texas blues guitar sound. Conrad Askland produces the project and also plays Hammond B3 organ.

Albert Miranda is a Christian music artist and band from the Southern California High Desert of Victorville.

Headlock (now Final Exit) - Heavy Metal

headlock_albumcover1.jpg

Final Exit is a heavy metal band from Southern California’s high desert in Hesperia and Victorville. Their debut album Padded Cell features all original songs in the mid 80’s retro style of Metallica. They are also featured on the Road Records compilation CD New Faces Volume Three with “War Machine”, a hard edged political commentary.

headlock_hank_paul.jpg

Hank Merenda (guitar, white t-shirt) and Paul Anderson (lead vocals, straight jacket) are the main writers for the group. Although all the material is set to a heavy metal sound, the lyrical content varies from brutal social commentary to slightly tongue and cheek parodies of the heavy metal genre ala “Spinal Tap”

headlock_hank1.jpg

Most bands are either strong at live performance, material development or studio recording. Headlock is one of the few bands that is focused on all three areas equally. Lead vocalist Paul Anderson, a recluse by nature, becomes an electrifying performer when the band hits the stage. His imagination and unique delivery come to life in stage antics that sometimes even include being executed in an electric chair at the end of their shows. Though superficially twisted and macabre, a Headlock performance is always delivered with an aura of slapstick that keeps audiences coming back for more!

headlock_brett.jpg

Brett McClintock (guitar) has intense stage energy and lays down a tight rhythm with the drums. His Marshall stacks power the classic crunchy drone of Headlock.

Headlock recorded at Road Records recording studio and were engineered by Conrad Askland.

headlock_dave.jpg

Dave Williams (Drums, Keyboards) performs incredible percussion and double pedal work on their album. A band is only as good as its drummer and Dave is a key element in creating the Headlock vintage heavy metal sound. Dave also plays keyboards and is featured on the intro of their title song “Padded Cell”.

The Elvis Disciples

elvis_disciples_logo.jpg
The Elvis Disciples are a Los Angeles based hard core punk band. Road Records debuts it’s new punk artists on the Southern California CD Compilation New Faces Volume Three with the Elvis Disciples and Hate Mail punk bands

The lyrical content of the Elvis Disciples is extremely vulgar and may offend many listeners. In fact, we can’t even really tell you about the subject matter, it’s THAT vulgar.

In keeping with our policy of no censorship when at all possible, we are proud to work with this band that dares to step over the edge and speak in terms no holds barred and unpolitically correct

Hate Mail
18+ Warning - Explicit Lyrics
Hate Mail is a hard core punk band from Los Angeles, CA. Although their lyrics are not political in nature, they do keep with the grand punk style of offending and satirizing the world around them

They are a very theatrical band both in live performance and in their writing. Listeners not familiar with punk might find them to be across between Dr. Demento and Spinal Tap. Definately very fun music if you’re not easily offended.

They are featured along with the Elvis Disciples punk band on Road Records New Faces Volume Three, a Southern California CD Compilation.

hatemail_pic2.jpg

Los Angeles area punk fans can see them at venues like the Roxy and Al’s Bar.

Scot Free (guitar) is from Victorville, CA, home of the punk band Face to Face.

Included on their Road Records solo album are the songs “GayF—”, “Revenge of the Drunken Butt Pirates”, “Feed Me To The Lions”, “I’m a Sucker For Your Love”, “I Want to Bump Your Body” plus 14 more. They were produced at Road Records recording studio and engineered by Conrad Askland.

otr_kickd.jpg
Off The Record performs original retro rock. Their music has elements of Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and the ’60’s through ’80’s. Included on their album are “20th Century Man”, “Save The Children”, “Taking It All The Way”, “Politics”, “Water of Love”, “Ode to the Sixties” and 4 more original songs

otr_gibson.jpg

Members at the time of recording were John Gibson (Drums), Peter Heide (Guitar), Jim Dorr (Guitar), Bob Fowler (Keyboards) and John Sanchez (Bass). Most of the members take turns on lead and background vocals, and also contribute to the group with their individual original songs.

Their original album was recorded at Road Records recording studio and produced by Conrad Askland. They will be featured on the Road Records CD compilation release New Faces Volume Four.

UPDATE 08/01 - After a long wait the final mixes for the album have finally been mastered. The band also has a demo of cover tunes available.

By Silvio J. Panta - Staff Writer

otr_bfowler.jpg

BARSTOW - He may not be as famous as Ringo Starr, but Superior Court Judge John Gibson showed he is just as witty and talented a drummer as the famed ex-Beatle.

“I’m so ground in the 60’s, it’s painful, “Gibson said. “We’re allowed to play twice a month.”

otr_pic1.jpg

Gibson wasn’t the only one who was tuned in to the past as he and other local jurists exclusively played oldies from the ’50’s and ’60’s during a sun-drenched Labor Day at Lake Dolores Water Park.

While patrons milled about and played in the water, the band of musicians who cleverly call themselves Off The Record, entertained whoever passed their way. Superior Court Judge James Dorr played rhythm guitar and sang like a pro during four long sets.

otr_sanchez.jpg

Barstow Superior Court language interpreter Peter Heide was also in the mix, playing lead guitar as well as attorney bob Fowler, who was jamming on the keyboards. Playing bass was none other than new band member John Sanchez, a GTE employee.

otr_0201.jpg
Dorr and Gibson did most of the talking. All the band members credited their wives for tolerating their hobby to entertain crowds.

Having played since he was a boy, Gibson recalled a now-defunct coffee house on the Sunset Strip in Los Agneles called “Ben Franklin’s”, where rock ‘n’ roll was a lot simpler.

The judge looks up to the late great rock drummer John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, and especially drummer Jim Keltner, as sources of inspiration for his style of playing.

otr_peter2.jpg

But the musical taste of today’s youth isn’t anything like Gibson’s as he found out during a past gig when a little girl asked whether Off The Record played requests. “She asked me to play something from the Spice Girls,” Gibson said. “Yeah, and after that I became “Old Spice”, Dorr interjected.

Dorr is credited for starting the 1 1/2 year old rock band, but Gibson would say it was really Heide and Dorr who got the ball rolling.

otr_vox.jpg

Regardless of who initiated the band, the happy members of Off The Record love what they do when they aren’t working at the courthouse and showed that enthusiasm when they played nearly every signature song of the oldies period from Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire” to the Rolling Stones “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”
